The Planetary Dream is an annual event, that began back in 1982...
On December 18, in 1982, for the first time in the history of our probably reality, dream networkers across the U.S. and in Europe hooked on by telephone to share their dreams with each other and in this way to discover some aspects of our world dreaming.
Coordinated by Bill Stimson, editor of the Dream Network Bulletin, nine dream-network centers stretching from Paris, France to San Francisco and including the Austin Seth Center, each transmitted a dream to the other centers and thus produced "the first world dream"...
Following the first planetary dreams set up in 1982 by Bill Stimson, and in 1990 by Oniros association, five new planetary dreams took place, during the winter solstices, from year 1996 to year 2000. A new set of Planetary dreams, related to the construction of the New Era (The New Age), has started in the Year 1 (2001). Primarily using the Internet, these mutual dreams shared on a planetary scale are dream appointments to think and live in the dream we wish to fulfil in our future reality.
Aid for Traumatised Children Project Self-Existing Moon Day 16, White Lunar Wizard Year - 2 November, 2007
Turtles Can Fly Last week I rented a film called Turtles Can Fly - a story about the lives of children in war-torn Iraq. I'd definitely recommend it. I learnt so much from this film. Lends a very personal touch to an issue that can be hard to understand.
TURTLES CAN FLY takes place in the Kurdish part of Iraq, near the border with Turkey, on the eve of the 2003 invasion of the country. Everywhere you look, there are the remains of weaponry from the first Gulf War, and there are areas where lethal mines are still a threat to the hapless people.
Many of the people who live here in poverty have lost limbs. Soran, nicknamed Satellite, who has some grasp of technology, is given the task of bringing the outside world to his village via satellite television. Review - At the Movies
Watching the film reminded me of a valuable project started by members of the World Dreams Peace Bridge just before the War in Iraq began in 2003. The Aid for Traumatised Children project grew out of the dreams of members of the group, and aims to provide direct person-to-person support to children who are the innocent victims of war. You can support the project directly through donations, or purchase one of a range of books on dreaming. A minimum of 20 percent and up to 100 percent on the cost of each book sold through this promotion will be donated by the authors to the project.
Renewal of the Dreaming Electric Moon Day 23, White Lunar Wizard Year - 12 October, 2007
Renewal of the Dreaming I recently had the good fortune to spend three weeks in an Aboriginal community during a teaching placement in Central Queensland. What an experience!
Ever since returning from my trip, I've felt I need to be doing more to learn about and bring awareness to the stories of the Indigenous people of Australia.
Guboo - man with a dream is an article from 2002 that's well worth checking out. It's a story about the life of 'Guboo' Ted Thomas - a tribal elder from the South Coast of Australia charged with the task of initiating the "renewal of the dreaming".
Lucid Dreaming Retreat in Tulum, Mexico (November 1-8, 2007)
Moving to news further afield. I've been speaking to Juan, who's organising a lucid dreaming retreat in Tulum, Mexico. It sounds like a great course in a beautiful environment:
Join us for 7 days and 7 nights in this Caribbean paradise complete with private beachfront cabanas, Mayan ruins, live dolphins, freshwater cenotes and pristine white sand beaches with crystal clear turquoise waters. There really are only two words which can best describe Tulum: Absolutely Magic
During the course of the retreat we will be learning to achieve lucidity and altered states of consciousness with various proven induction techniques including The Pyramid Dry Floatation Tank, Tibetan Dream Yoga, Pranayama, Temazcal Healing Ceremonies, Alpha Mindstates and Meditation, Light and Sound Machines and the Mexican plant teachers Calea Zacatechichi and Salvia Divinorum.
The intention of this retreat is to assist all participants in achieving direct experience with transpersonal states of consciousness. By developing the ability of awakening within both the waking and sleeping dream at will, we may discover our true purpose in life as conscious creators of our own destiny to the benefit of humanity and all living beings.
Dream of Peace is back online! Electric Moon Day 14, White Lunar Wizard Year - 3 October, 2007
The Dream of Peace website is back online for the first time in almost a year!
The domain name (dreamofpeace.net) expired unexpectedly a while back, and was subsequently hijacked by some internet cowboy residing in the Bahama's. As you can imagine I wasn't too impressed.
After eventually managing to make contact with the individual in question, he offered the name back to me for a whopping US$500!
Evidently, I had neither the will nor the means to give into such thievery.
There's also been some other good news in that time:
IASD Dream Conference
A few moons ago, I attended the 2007 Conference for the International Association for the Study of Dreams in Sonoma, California (a long, long way from my home here in Melbourne). The event was packed full of sessions from morning til night. My favourites were the workshop on creative writing from dream material, and a very interesting presentation which looked at the ways and reasons why we camoflauge or mask the "i" in recorded dream narratives. If you're captivated by dreaming, I'd definitely recommend attending the 2008 event - it's going to be held in Montréal, Canada.
I'll be there.
My first Active Dreaming Circle
While in the USA I was able to attend one of Robert Moss' dreaming workshops. Robert is the author of some of my favourite books about dreaming - I make particular reference here to the title DREAMGATES (An Explorer's Guide to the Worlds of Soul, Imagination and Life Beyond Death). The workshop was awesome.
I've always wanted to start an active dreaming circle here in Melbourne, but have been unsure as to what such a meetup might involve. At the workshop, I saw it all in play. We shared dreams using the Lightning Dreamwork method, participated in dream theatre, played synchronicity games, and were assigned to "homeplay" tasks. My personal favourite was when we reentered one another's dreams. Robert treats dreams as though they are real places we can return to. With the assistance of shamanic drumming that's exactly what we did. Revamped LD4all Website
My good friend pasQuale also recently launched a revamped version of the LD4all Lucid Dreaming Guide and Web Forum. It comes in three editions - English, Dutch, and French, and is in my mind the most comprehensive and visually appealing website for all things lucid dreaming.
Following the terrorist attacks of 9/11 in the United States, a group of international dreamers gathered around the idea of dreaming the world toward peace.
Everyone dreams. In many cultures it is believed that the world is a creation of our dreams. These dreams are a bridge across which we can reach toward one another.
