In a dream i am watching a screen, it is the quickbrushstrokes
that form a painting, before me. the screen grows larger as the
dark strokes become overlayed with some ancient dawn, we are watching
then the pastel illumination of some canyon. it grows slowly and
i know i am watching the chronicle of time itself slowly slowly,
and then a boy on a bicycle comes from the bottom left, taking
a path up the hill and into civilization.
the screen is stepped into and the boy followed. it becomes a
chronicle of the role of magic thru time, when at first through
the forest behind the boy the magic was real, living in nature
and every being, inside us.
the boy rides into town, and magic becomes consolidated into centers,
amusement parks like coney island where the magicians were real
and the audience believed.
and then a disbelief steals through the center itself, and we
are left with a tragicomic hobo magician, offering paper flowers
made from trash in the midst of county fair crowds. |
